Passenger series

Kazachstan

Current passenger series since 1994 in black on white only using western letters.
The registration consists of one letter, followed by three numerals and three letters.
The first letter denotes the district where B stands for Alma-Ata district.
The last letter always is M, except for the larger cities and districts where the N follows.


Trailer series

Kazakhstan

Former trailer series issued between 1994 and 2007 in black on white only using western letters.
The registration consists of four numerals above two letters.
The first letter denotes the district where B stands for Alma-Ata district.
The plate has a square shape with the two lower corners cut away.


Kazachstan

Former trailer series issued between 1994 and 2007 in black on white only using western letters.
The registration consists of four numerals above two letters.
The first letter denotes the district where A stands for Alma-Ata city.

Foreigner series

The registration consists of the letter H, followed by six numerals.
These plates are issued to foreign residents or companies.


Foreigner trailer series

Current foreigner owned trailers series since 1997 in black on yellow only using western letters, with a black border.
The registration consists of four numerals above one letter and the letter X.
The first letter denotes the twon or province where A stands for Almaty city.
The plate has a square shape with the two lower corners cut away.
These plates are issued to foreign residents or companies.


Kazakh vehicle registration plates start with a letter indicating the district of registration, followed by their main towns in parentheses, to aid location.
