To the left is a blue euroband with the oval I below the 12 European golden stars.
To the left is a blue band with the last two digits of the year in a circle in yellow above the province code, where 00 stands for 2000.
In this case Ao stands for Aosta. For Aosta plates the right blue band also shows the provincial crest.

This plate is unlike all other Italian plates personal which means that you can use the same plate on several vehicles.


Agricultural series

Work vehicle series

Normal work vehicle (used on bulldozers, street cleaner vehicles etc) license plate issued between 1992 and 1994. SI stands for Siena. After that, the plate style is exactly the same, except that the first two letter do not denote the origin anymore.


Older Italian vehicle registration plates have two groups of characters, one of which is a group of two letters, indicating the province of registration, or is Roma indicating the capital.
Newer plates have three groups of characters, which do not indicate location in an obvious way.
Combinations are given to provinces in small lots.
