Syria

Current passenger series since 1997 in black on white.
The registration is split into four blocks.
To the left is the province name in Arabic above six western numerals.
Vertically aligned in the centre of the plate are SYR and Syria in Arabic.
To the right are six Arabic numerals which are identical to the western numerals at the left.
The Arabic word at the left denotes the province, in this case ???.
The first three numerals indicate the vehicle type where 477 is used for ???.

Current diplomatic series since 1980 in black on white.
Bottom left, the registration consists of three numerals, followed by an oblique line and two numerals in western script.
To the right the registration consists of two numerals, followed by an oblique line in a red panel and two numerals in Arabic script.
Top left is SYR and the Arabic equivalent, followed by CD below the Arabic equivalent in black.
The three numerals denote the embassy where 126 stands for the Netherlands.
